At the July 24, 2018 99s Annual Aviation Appreciation Dinner at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI, the Ninety-Nines announced the winner of the 2018 Karen Johnson Solo Scholarship: 18-year-old Hannah Smith from Frisco TX. In addition to a $3,000 flight training scholarship, Hannah received a King Schools ground school course courtesy of the King Schools, a set of autographed books by aviation legend Barry Schiff, and a Zulu 2 headset courtesy of Lightspeed Aviation.

While in high school Hannah took 3 aviation courses at LeTourneau University. In the summer of 2018 following her high school graduation she took flight training in a 7ECA Citabria at McKinney International Airport (KTKI). She is currently a freshman at LeTourneau University majoring in flight operations and getting ready for her private pilot check ride.  Hannah is also a member of LeTourneau’s award winning Sting Precision Flight Team.

Hannah is an enthusiastic member of the Ninety-Nines.  In her words:  "Thank you so much for your support. The 99s have hanged my life for the better and I loved every second that I have been in the air.  I can't wait to see what the future holds."

The Ninety-Nines are grateful to Lightspeed Aviation, King Schools and Barry Schiff for their support of the 2018 Karen Johnson Solo Scholarship.
