We bring back tonight, the popular panel discussion of airline pilots who also fly general aviation. Each of our panelists began their aviation career flying small planes before going to the airlines. Each of them stopped flying GA for a time, and then went back to their roots and got re-involved with little airplanes. Tonight, we'll focus on occasions in big airplanes and small, when they've had to make critical decisions, and how they approached those moments, and how their experiences in both the Part 91 and Part 121 worlds helped inform those decisions.

ForeFlight is a widely used and sought after application and as such, requires a continuing education regarding proper usage techniques for it to be a valuable resource. ForeFlight is not thoroughly understood, and if not used properly could cause very serious safety issues for the aviator and others utilizing the National Airspace System (NAS).

This workshop will serve as recurrent training for users of the world's leading aviation flight planning app. Attendees will determine the aspects of the program discussed and share valuable tricks with one another for using the app including, but not limited to: preflight planning, briefings, setting up your aircraft, weight and balance, flight plans, data download management, basic use, advanced use, and much more of whatever YOU want to know and share.

Bring: a fully-charged iPad with California VFR Sectional and Terminal Area Charts downloaded. If instrument rated, have approach plates and IFR charts downloaded.

This seminar helps pilots understand how the FAA Practical Test is structured, evaluated and conducted so they can reduce their anxiety, improve their performance and properly prepare for the exam. Often the applicant and the instructor don’t really know how to determine when they are ready for the test. By attending this presentation, and by following a few simple steps, many of the common problems can be eliminated.

As the FAA implements the Airman Certification Standards to replace the Practical Test Standards, many instructors and applicants have questions about the changes. This seminar will cover the ACS in detail and allow plenty of time for questions and answers. You will learn 9 key questions you need to answer in order to pass your practical test and some surefire ways to impress your examiner so the test starts off on the right foot. DPE Ken Wittekiend will also discuss the common ways applicants fail check rides and some simple procedures to help you avoid these mistakes.

This is a class for student pilots, flight instructors preparing their students for the private pilot check ride and an excellent refresher for all pilots.

Wings Program Event #WP0180006

The tag team of Barry Schiff and Brian Schiff return to cover aspects of aerodynamics that you might find confusing or difficult to understand.

They will review the four forces: lift, weight, thrust & drag. They will also discuss the four fundamentals of flight: climbs, turns, descents and straight & level flight.

These topics will be discussed in a manner that is both entertaining and insightful. The depth of the discussion will be limited to the aspects of each that are most pertinent to pilots and their safe operation of the airplane. If you want to dissect the lift equation, this is not the class for you. It will, however, leave student, new, and experienced pilots with a better understanding of how an airplane works and the best techniques to use to fly safely.

$35.00

Wings Program Event #WP0179980

With over 35,000 hours combined flying experience, two professional pilots tell a hair-raising tale of a cross-the-country flight they took together as aeronautics majors in college. Current and former major airline pilot (now an international business jet captain), Brian Schiff and Jim Clarkson explain the ironies of a flight in which human physiology and the demands of an increasingly complex flight were suddenly two anti-synergistic forces creating a potentially catastrophic outcome.

Learn how even basic knowledge of human factors, as they relate to aviation, will help you avoid downward progression in the areas of decision making while helping you further understand how quickly the human psyche can work against the best intentions. This process can disrupt the plans, decisions, and actions of the most prepared and experienced aviators.

This course will provide interesting insight in a relaxed and entertaining learning environment, and is great information for all—not just pilots.  Learn from the experiences they encountered and the bad decisions they made while ferrying a Cessna 310 across the country when they were fledgling pilots building flight time. As best friends they will provide entertainment, education and laughter while they tell their story.
