Lightspeed Aviation and Lightspeed Aviation Foundation

Allan Schrader is the Founder and President of Lightspeed Aviation. An MBA and engineer by training, he gained his early technology and management experience in the 1980’s at Tektronix within its computer graphics businesses. Allan quickly established himself as a respected and skilled project leader and operations manager. He ventured into the aviation field in 1988 to help launch a start-up focused on pilot communication products. He later teamed with some former Tektronix engineers to start Lightspeed Technologies providing wireless audio devices for enhanced learning in primary education.

The aviation business was an internal spin off driven by the emerging opportunities of active noise reduction. Under his leadership Lightspeed launched its first aviation headset at EAA AirVenture in 1996. Today Lightspeed’s award-winning Zulu 3 is the most comfortable, most durable headset Lightspeed has ever made. His personal desire to give back and to engage pilots in the outstanding charitable work of multiple aviation organizations led to the formation of the Lightspeed Foundation.

Allan is a helicopter pilot and has a BS degree in Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. He has served on several non-profit boards, coached youth sports, and has been actively involved in leadership roles at his church.
