"The Role of GA Camaraderie in the Israeli-Jordanian Peace Process"

Capt. Brian Schiff was one of the pilots on the lead airplane in a fleet of 31 planes participating in “Operation Peace Flight” which traversed the Judean Desert between Israel and Jordan shortly after the signing of the Israeli-Jordanian peace treaty. Jordanian, American and Israeli pilots and passengers alike participated in this historic caravan of airplanes flown from Jerusalem, Israel to Amman, Jordan in the name of peace—the first ever military or civil aircraft to take off in one of these countries and land in the other. Brian will talk about his father's, Barry Schiff’s, efforts in taking advantage of the bond between airman to organize a flight between these two countries despite the existing cultural and political chasms that existed. He’ll also talk about the pilots and passengers in the 31 planes, the reception in Jordan, the flight planning and special security for the flight, and the role of general aviation in the peace process. In addition, Brian will share photos and key excerpts from the video of this historic event.

WINGS Credit:  If you registered for the dinner with the same email address you use in the FAA WINGS program, you will receive WINGS credit for attending the program.
